How often have you hear it said?…”I don’t need to go to church to love God or to be a Christian.” True perhaps if your a shut-in. However, there is a big difference pychologically between someone forced from the company of those at church and those voluntarily & purposely avoiding other people because they are too busy, precoccupied, emotionally wounded, resting, relaxing, or just plain pursuing some much deserved recreation. Studies have shown that actively involved religious people, are less likely to have emotional problems than their nonreligious counterparts. Frequent churchgoing, was shown to be associated with lower levels of anxiety and depression. Several studies showed that religious involvement can protect against mental and psychological problems. Other studies show that those attending church regularly, actually live longer and enjoy overall healthier lives!
