Many of you that were coming to the Original Hinson concert initially scheduled for January 31, 2010, expressed tremendous disappointment when we were forced to cancel because of extreme winter conditions. Others of you strongly commended us for canceling the engagement until better weather permitted.
One dear lady, who had managed to brave the snowy and icy highways persistantly enough that she ultimately got all the way to the Millersville Elementary school where the concert was to be held, did so because she had not received word about the cancelation in time to turn around and head back to Michigan where she lives. Nonetheless, when I spoke to her that day of January 31st by phone she informed me that the conditions were worse here in Tennessee than in Michigan where she had been earlier that morning. In addition, a few others actually made it all the way to the school as well.
It was difficult for many of us to understand the reasons why the Lord would allow the weather to postpone such a rare concert event? One that so many had worked deligently to arrange and even more had looked forward to attending! Regardless, the event had to be put off until another date could be arranged that was more agreeable with the weather, the schedule of Bo Hinson, Ronny Hinson, Yvonne Hinson Johnson, myself, the Assembiles of God Nashville North Section and even the Millersville Elementary School; any of which could hinder the opportunity to reschedule the service!
With that said, it took another full week before the school was once again open to hold classes, something we did not quite understand at the time. Nonetheless we took it all in stride, trusting that our heavenly Father knows best! Ultimately God has allowed everyone’s agenda to agree with a new date, Sunday, March 21st, 6:00 PM!
Today I just happened to be in conversation with Miss Petty, principle of the Millersville Elementary School, where we hold services each Sunday morning and where the rescheduled concert will be attended. In the process of our discussion I discovered further proof that God does indeed work in mysterious ways, even where concerts are concerned! Miss Petty continued her short discourse, complete with her sympathy about the cancelation of the concert and then stated…”It’s a good thing that we had the snow and ice come in and force you to cancel the concert, later that same Sunday evening (January 31st), the water lines burst in the 4 bathrooms surrounding the auditorium and the sprinkler system came on saturating everything…everyone at the concert would have been flooded out of the building and everyone would have been soaked, and your equipment would have been ruined”! She then went on to add…even the heat was broken that night, “God works in mysterious ways”!
Ultimately God knew that far worse things than ice or snow would have developed that evening of January 31st! The low temprature alone was what burst the pipes, caused the flood and made the sprinker system inside the building come on during what would have been the concert event. Not to mention, with the heat broken that night and even without the other elements involved, we would have had to rely on body heat alone to try to enjoy the concert. In any case, this also explained why the school was closed for a full week following January 31st.
Sometimes we don’t really grasp the reasons behind the situations and events that transpire in our lives and often we can be guilty of faulting God for what we cannot see. Nonetheless, as the word teaches…all things work together for the good of them that love the Lord, to them that are the called according to the purpose of God”!
I believing that March 21st will be a more condusive calendar date for our service with The Original Hinsons, and if you have not yet made your plans to attend I would encourage you to do so now!
